Eye Abnormality
While this measure is relatively rare, it can be used to detect disease in a flock. Eye abnormalities can be assessed using either catch and release or the transect method.

A normal eye should be brightly colored and clear. Eye abnormalities include swollen eyes, cloudy eyes, eye injuries, and discharge from the eyes. Swollen eyes and discharge are often symptoms of a respiratory disease.
